My trip was booked. I was all set to honeymoon in Hawaii. At the time, I was living in North Dakota and nothing sounded better than lounging next to crystal blue waters with a warm breeze blowing and a pina colada in hand. But then I got an oil change. And everything changed!
I was flipping through a National Geographic while I was at the service center and came across an article about Botswana. It was fascinating but I put down the magazine when I was done with the article. And then I sat there. Thinking. Thinking about my bucket list.
I went home, told my husband we were going to Africa and cancelled our trip to Hawaii!
It was the best decision I ever made {okay, it was ONE of the best}. The experience far surpassed all my expectations. The wildlife was abundant. The landscapes were dramatic and breathtaking. The people were friendly and warm. The lodging was luxurious, yet perfectly suited to the surrounding wilderness. Every component of the trip, seamless.
Honestly, I never thought my top bucket list adventure could be so perfect.
